Card Specifications
The HKUST Card is built around a new generation of smart card technology based on the Java Card and Open Platform standards.
Specifically, the card is a dual interface smartcard (contact & contactless) conforming to ISO 7816 (T=0, T=1) and ISO 14443 (Type A) standards, with the following specifications:
Chip
- 40K EEPROM (36K user-available)
- Java Card 2.2.1
- Open Platform 2.1.1
- Crypto and public key support, including:
- DES, 3DES, SHA, MD5
- RSA, key length up to 2048, with on-card key generation
Plastic
- PVC with glossy overlaminated surface
- Varnished finish with metallic effect
- Scratch resistant topcoats, double layers on top side and single layer on back side
